December 2009

It has been a busy year for VooDoo Larry Kustoms. In August, we had our second annual open house ( pictures coming soon) and it was a huge success. We had over 200 cars and about 1,000 attendees over the course of the day. Hillbilly Idle was kind enough to play a few sets. We had vendors, raffles and kustom made appreciation awards. Save the date -Sunday August 1, 2010- for the 3rd annual open house, it's sure to be bigger and better than last year....
September was a busy car show month, I showed the VooDoo Idol and VooDoo Psychosis in 3 states over a 2 ½ week period. We were in Streator, IL for the Labor Day Street Cruise. Then we headed over to Branson, MO for Sleds in September. I was a featured builder, along with Jack Walker and Kurt McCormick. The show was fun, despite the monsoon rain- it rained for fifteen hours straight! We got home on Sunday and we were back on the road Tuesday heading over to the Ducktail Run in Gas City, Indiana. This year's Ducktail was bigger than ever, with over 4,500 hot rods and kustoms.
This year's Hunnert Car Pileup was a wet and cold one, but we made the best of it. The VooDoo Drop Tank made its car show debut at the Pileup ( it was the only belly tank at the show). The week after was the Brushmaster's Charity Pinstriping Panel Jam, benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities. We had about 40 stripers from the area show up to support this great cause. The panels and other items will be auctioned off at this year's Chicago World of Wheels ( March 5-7) in Rosemont, IL. October ended with a Halloween bash put on by the VooDoo Kings Kustom Car Club, good times were had by all.

November was a time of change for VooDoo Larry Kustoms. Stitch relocated his upholstery business to the southern suburbs. We wish him the best in his new location. I started on my next personal build, a 1950 Buick carson top car. Don't have a name for it yet, so I'm taking suggestions. We spent Thanksgiving with our close friends ( and Ohio club members) in Cincinnati, OH . We've never been to Ohio and we were glad to meet up with fellow kustom car enthusiasts.

December is starting off busy, I've got a full shop, be sure to look for upcoming pictures. I also have to redo the VooDoo Psychosis ( 31 Ford Model A). I'm relocating the radiator to the front, and redoing the suspension ( putting an inch lift on the car).

In January, I am going to host a pinstriping class, details will follow, so be sure to check back soon.

We were asked to host the Motorama section of the 2010 Chicago World of Wheels. This year's event will be held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center from March 5th to the 7th. We will have bands, pinup girls, cool awards...be sure to sign up early, as spaces are filling fast. If you are interested in showing your car or vending your wares, be sure to send me a message through my contact page or call the shop at 847-301-7990 for an application. This event is not to be missed. We have added new merchandise to our list. We have gift certificates available in any amount, makes the perfect gift for that hard to buy for hot rodder.

Have a safe and happy holiday,

VooDoo Larry
